As it came out of the car - no cleaning done yet.

I'd sprayed some degreaser on it at this point and wiped it a little with a rag. Still lots of gunk :-(

Lots of gunkiness on/around the shift shaft.

Not too much down the back side of the transaxle.

All cleaned up and ready for disassembly.

I guess a 1/2 gallon of degreaser and 2 cans of parts cleaner makes a little difference...

Looks like a small leak from the transaxle output shaft. Don't think it's a big one since I never saw any fluid leaking out of the bottom of the transaxle casing.
